Trouble detecting controller input

Whenever trying to make a controller layout it requires needing to load a physical controller profile then map it rather than mapping your own from the device you selected and even if you had a preset selected mapping rest of controls doesn't always detect. This is on iOS 16.0

Having the same issue, some buttons work fine while others don’t register, sometimes it doesn’t work at all.
