Looks good.

A housekeeping suggestion. The "add refs" is more useful in the upper line of the discretion so that it is shown everywhere. At the moment there is written "Update nitrate_introduction.md" that is the default and totally unclear what is updated.

The comments. "Let's try it this way ..." is more suited for the text body.

This helps to be more efficient in the review.
