The current classification of PLATFORM is not ideal to my point of view.
"SUBSURFACE PROFILER" is covering "floats" "gliders" and "MEOP_CTD"
but "ROSETTE_CTD", "Ice Tethered Profiler"; "XBT", "XCTD", "Mobile Fishing Vessel Probes" are also subsurface profilers.
I suggest to change PLATFORM_FAMILY into :
Marine Autonomous System
Ship Borne System
With a serie of three tags that is covering all the situations we have in our data base currently :
[UNDERWATER/SURFACE],
[FIXED/MOBILE/ICE],
PROFILER [YES/NO]
