Issue is present in 6.1.6 and 6.2.4. Tested in modpack setting, only solution to the exp orb lag was to roll back to 4.7.5. Would it be possible to disable orbs or implement some other fix? The newer version is better in every way, but is unplayable when doing actions that generate to many orbs.
