First login attempt fails when using domain authentication with a different account to the computer account

The bug

The first login attempt fails when using domain authentication with a different account to the computer account. The user is told that "An error occurred with Windows authentication, possibly due to a known issue, please try using forms authentication". The login will succeed if attempted again.

What I expected to happen

The login process should complete successfully on the first attempt.

Steps to reproduce

1. Click the "Sign in with a domain account" button
2. Enter a different account than your computer account
3. An error will be thrown (see screen capture)
4. Click the "Sign in with a domain account" button
5. The login will succeed

It is possible to log in using forms based authentication.
