Progress on encyclopedia entries representation and integration in the EOKG have been made.
Entries are now edited using Omeka, installed at https://odeuropa-omeka.tools.eurecom.fr/. The directory of all entries in Google Drive is at https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/12Wfk7bvZKDFQN5HCwTGWJp1OJe__D4Fs while an index of all planned entries is maintained in this spreadsheet. Entries are loaded in Omeka when they are ready. For example, the Encyclopedia entry about "Historically Themed Attractions" is available as:
What remains to be done:
Note: this ontology could extend the current Storyline ontology discussed in Issue #51 .
Pasquale and I (and Marieke) discussed this briefly while discussing the Storylines paper. Our conclusion was that we should use DC for encyclopedia entries. Is there any reason why not?
Dublin Core would be appropriate for sure but I do not think it will be enough as the entries have more structure. For example, I can imagine that CITO will be used as well. As usual, the best is to pick a full example and to represent it by hand and see what predicates and classes we need.
Following the Ljubljana meeting, the general idea is to deploy a WordPress instance with a custom-made plugin to enable Historians to edit Encyclopedia entries while being directly sync with the EOKG. The inspiration will be http://editor.city-moove.fr/. The upcoming tasks include:
@williamtullett to oversee the whole task in order to guide us in the development.
