Revisit the sidebar "Museum" filter #92

At the moment the "Museum" filter in the sidebar displays the source where the text/image was collected. This is a long list which is not really relevant. What should we replace it with?

rtroncy commented 11 months ago

I think we should replace this by the Genre of the documents.

List of possible textual genres (used in the benchmark):

List of possible visual genres ... see the genre column of the metadata CSV files

The source/Museum is typically only one. WIll a document be allowed to have more than one Genre (which seems like a good idea…). Is the proposal to replace or to add this filter?

rtroncy commented 11 months ago

The proposal is to remove the Museum filter AND to add instead a Genre filter. We will need to agree on what are the possible genre values, but we have already a starting point which is what we agreed on when building the benchmark corpora. We have problems to categorize documents into these genres, and we rely on existing metadata (as opposed to do the classification ourselves). While a document could have multiple genres (in theory), the metadata rarely (never?) says so.

Ok. Being able to attach more than one genre may alleviate the difficulty in categorizing.
