I would like to use this app without having to install Android Studio. Btw i'm not a dev, so i'm not able to debug it if there is build problems.

@ktprograms - Why there still is nothing on https://github.com/OdyseeTeam/odysee-android/releases ?

tzarebczan commented 2 years ago

This native app is still being developed and not ready for release.

I was annoyed by the current Odysee app being very slow and ended up here. This app is much better, even tough it seems it does not support chapters yet (https://github.com/OdyseeTeam/odysee-android/issues/446) and the fullscreen mode doesn't automatically go to landscape mode (https://github.com/OdyseeTeam/odysee-android/issues/434). Please release an early release version for those who don't want to wait for a stable release. For those who want to try this without having to compile, here is an unofficial early release https://github.com/Zahrun/odysee-android/releases

@Zahrun, don't you find it a bit too disrespectful to just go on and cut the release of someone else's code? Obviously the devs behind this projects are pretty capable of doing a release themselves. Apparently the release is not there because the devs don't feel like the time is right for it yet. I would suggest to show some respect to their position.

Note, I have nothing to do with the team behind this app, I'm just another person building and running this app for my own needs.

@czarkoff, I just want to help a few curious people to try the app before release, although it would be better for them to build it themselves. It seems here that some might not have the knowledge for that, so that is only a shortcut for them. I don't know why the devs are not releasing an alpha or beta. I find the other available app really slow for daily use, so I understand that some people are looking for the next thing. Me releasing an unofficial version does not go against the devs' position to not create an official release. Under the MIT license, I am in my full right to fork it and create an unofficial release. Btw, it has been downloaded only once.

PS: I could even sell it if I wanted to. If there is an issue with my fork and unofficial release, please explain what it is.
