How do I join Microsoft Teams Connect program/add app to shared channel #1777

We have an app that users want to add to shared channels.

I have googled and found that to support this we need to join a program called Microsoft Teams Connect, but I can’t work out how I would do that.

Can you advise?

Hello @catmanjan - Thanks for raising your query. We will look into it and let you know the updates.

Please note that currently Bots, connectors, and message extensions are not supported in shared channels. Shared channels support tabs except for Stream, Planner, and Forms - Limits for Shared channels

Please refer this doc to Build apps for shared channels.

So we don’t need to join a program any more?

Is this doco out of date? https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/shared-channels#supported-apps-in-shared-channels

Could you please let us know if you want to add the apps mentioned at https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/shared-channels#supported-apps-in-shared-channels or you want to add your own tab application?

Any update?

Meghana-MSFT commented 1 year ago

We are checking this internally, we will get back to you.

Meghana-MSFT commented 1 year ago

Apologies for the delay, please refer this doc https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoftteams/platform/concepts/build-and-test/shared-channels#enable-your-app-for-shared-channels to enable your app for shared channels.

catmanjan commented 1 year ago

@Meghana-MSFT we already have that setting set correctly, but the app is not visible in shared channels

Meghana-MSFT commented 5 months ago

Apologies for the delay in response, the support for apps in private and shared channels is not yet released to external developers. Engineering team is working on updating the documentation to mention the same.

So how did all these third party apps get in to shared channels?

However they got in/whatever program they joined/whatever they paid - we want to know, we are Microsoft partners ourselves.
