@akoushke We have a few new tutorials for PowerPoint in our documentation. PowerPoint uses the shared APIs in the reference section. If you need more help with your PowerPoint code, you can contact developers on Stack Overflow in the PowerPoint section. Keep your eye on the PowerPoint developer portal for announcements!
Wow, this comment was really not helpful. Will there every be a host specific API for PowerPoint? Nobody is ever answering with specifics to these questions. They are deflected or ignored. The Common API is really useless if you want anything else than basic functionality.
Hi @dhilgarth, sorry I can't be more helpful but alas, the answer is no, we do not currently have host-specific Office JS API for PowerPoint. You can use the Shared API with PowerPoint, and yes, it's pretty basic. Here's the link if you don't have it: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/javascript/api/overview/office?view=office-js
I mentioned the new PowerPoint tutorial, but I didn't include the link, here it is: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/office/dev/add-ins/tutorials/powerpoint-tutorial?view=office-js
AFAIK, there are no plans for a host specific API for PowerPoint. @sumurthy, can you give Daniel and Aresh any more guidance on PowerPoint developer documentation or have I covered it?
Thanks for getting back to me.

That's the specifics I was hoping for, thank you. Although it is absolutely not the answer I hoped for.
@dhilgarth and @akoushke -- if you haven't already done so, please consider 'upvoting' this related feature request in UserVoice: https://officespdev.uservoice.com/forums/224641-feature-requests-and-feedback/suggestions/33200554-powerpoint-api. The Office JS product team considers UserVoice feature requests (as one of many factors) when planning and prioritizing upcoming investments in Office JS.
@kbrandl I already voted there. As did a lot of other people. So far, it doesn't look like it made any difference. Not a single official comment is on that issue. It's sad, really.
Thanks @dhilgarth, just wanted to make sure that you (and anyone else who may view this issue thread in the future) knew that this request is being tracked in UserVoice.
Any updates on host specific Powerpoint JS API? when will it be available? any timeline?
