Advice me on creating cross-platform Microsoft 365 Add-ins #10027

Hi Team,

I'm trying to implement an add-in for Microsoft 365 apps, and I could use some guidance. The goal of this add-in is to provide suggestions within composed emails(in outlook) and chat area in Microsoft Teams. (Like how Grammerly works). We're targeting both Windows and Mac users, with our main focus being on Outlook, Teams, and Word.

Here's what I've gathered from my research so far:

  1. We can create an Office add-in using either Yeoman generator or the Teams toolkit.
  2. However, Yeoman generator doesn't support creating Teams add-ins.
  3. The Teams toolkit seems to be limited to creating Outlook add-ins on Windows as of now. (I believe this information might be outdated because I managed to create a messaging add-in that worked in Teams for both Windows and Mac.)

Considering our goal of creating cross-platform add-ins for Outlook, Word, and Teams, which approach should I choose? Yeoman or Teams toolkit?

Thank you so much for your time!
