Also did some code cleanup and moving functions to allow for easier testability
Please note that a CI pipeline is now hooked up to this repo so we will have install, build and test validation at checkin

Closing this PR and will reopen to trigger CI job for PR, which I didn't have hooked up properly. Hoping I have it right now
