Freezing in Ubuntu #153

Trying to commit any changes to the dwarves in my fortress appears to
always cause the same non-responsive system syndrome which r296 had
initially appeared to solve.  The system locks no longer happen on loading
and connecting to Dwarf Fortress at all though, which is a change from how
it was before r296.

I'm running this in Ubuntu 9.04 32-bit, and I use the linux alpha r296
version of Dwarf Therapist.

Sorry for this duplicate, the submission process kept resulting in an error 
with a
