[Linux] DT Would Not Load #187

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Basically, I had two problems.

1) DT would not load, or would not talk to Dwarf Fortress, citing either
"Cannot talk to this version" or simply doing nothing when asked to read
Dwarves. It did work a few times, but mostly did not.

2) DT would not run from link nor launcher (Targeting the "dt" script).
This I fixed with some alterations to the "dt" script, drawing on the "df"
script launching Linux-native Dwarf Fortress.

This seemed to be largely because I had multiple Dwarf Fortress instances
still listed in Process Manager, despite having closed them. Killing off
all these processes largely solved the problem.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
This was "Linux native" DF downloaded from this page:
http://www.bay12games.com/forum/index.php?topic=40349.0
At the time of writing, 40d16.

OS is Ubuntu 9.10 (64 bit) "karmic" running Gnome.

Please provide the "run.log" file in the "log" directory of DwarfTherapist
when this error occurred.
Unfortunately I am unable to do so - I seem to have fixed the problem, and
am loathe to intentionally try to break it.
If memory serves, the "critical" line had to do with being unable to read
"/proc/0/maps".

Thanks for the bug report. Unfortunately the Linux version is in alpha and
unsupported. When it is officially released we'll accept bug submissions.
