where is the configuration of mintty? I favor a portable version.

By default, the config file is at ~/.minttyrc, but that can be overridden using 
the --config option. Mintty 
doesn't store anything in the registry, if that's what you're concerned about. 
You can run it from anywhere, 
but it does require the Cygwin DLL.
