That is the main Service API into MythTV. However, there are several other 
interfaces that would be useful. Such as a messaging service to send all TVs a 
message at the same time; i.e. when a state change of a item such as a doorbell.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/jmythapi/ here is a Java implementation of part 
of the MythTV API. This is more used for query & control type services.
