Message Bar in Communications Site #102

Hello,

I seem to be having an issue with the Message Bar web part in a communications site. I am unable to change the font color or background color of the text. I am however able to change it on a regular modern site.

The edit box doesn't show rich text

I've noticed that if you highlight the text you want to modify and do a CNTL-B it will bold it. CNTL-I will italicize it. Supposedly CNTL-K will make a link but it does not work. The documentation for Message Bar shows additional controls that don't show in our message bar. :-(
