Upload your finished code to GitHub #21

Hello @OlleMuronde

A last task is to upload your code into GitHub. In your implementation section, you can include a link to the GitHub repo. This can be done next week, because marking won't start for a week or two.

On a related note -- I've been known to write up student projects for mutual credit (e.g. https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/5692145/ai-haiku/ai-haiku-slides.html). If I have time, would you like this?

Hi Daniel, I will do. Could you send across the stuff about how the LinkedIn Data was collected I would like to add this to the background research. Yes that would be great!

Hi Daniel,

Please find attached the first 5 chapters.

I will be tidying up the grammar and citations. If possible could I get feedback on the general direction and things I may want to add ?

(I personally think the Background reasearch should focus more on the linkedIn data, and techniques like PCA and dimensionality reduction.)

Regards,

Olle

Hello Olle

Thank you for the chapters! Here are some notes on data collection:

We used US and UK census data to get a list of towns and cities and their population. We sampled places from these lists, relative to population size. We used Bing's search API to find profiles within linkedin.com Bing provides upto 1,000 results per query, though not all results were profile pages. We then fetched the profile pages form LinkedIn.

This provides a good geographic sample. Within a given place, it is not a truly random sample, because Bing does not provide random sampling but selects results based on a ranking, loosely related to connections.

I will read your chapters and get back to you tomorrow.
