This is due to our TV provider TV Maze, I have no control over their metadata.
I am not planning to add any other TV providers yet.
Alright, that's understandable.
It does recognise a lot of anime though, but doesn't recognise that the anime is already on Plex, is that also a problem with the metadata provider?
What I mean is that I have Steins;Gate on Plex and TVmaze also recognises it as can be seen here https://www.tvmaze.com/shows/2051/steins-gate
Ombi also recognises Steins;Gate since I can search for it and it will come up, but Ombi won't recognise it's already in Plex.
I don't doubt you when you say that the problem is with TVMaze, but I'm wondering how it's the problem when it has the show in its database.
I have the same issue and can find the animes without problems via the search. But they are not automatically detected. Whats the problem here? Any way to fix this?
Thanks and Kind Regards, Daniel
I've been waiting for an answer to the same question for over a year. I think we may be out of luck.
I'd love it if I could setup ombi to use sonarr's API for series lookup https://github.com/Sonarr/Sonarr/wiki/Series-Lookup offload the reliance on a TV provider, of course it'd be optional if you don't have sonarr/radarr or something with an API

Ombi Applicable Logs (from
/logs/
directory or the Admin page):Problem Description:
Recognition of anime that's already downloaded is extremely poor. This occurs with both anime with English titles and those without. Sadly, I can't see how to enable verbose logs, but the log above is for I did a search for 'Aho-Girl'. It doesn't recognise that it's been downloaded, even though Ombi is linked to both my Plex and Sonarr, and Aho-Girl is in both, with all episodes.
The same occurs with Steins;Gate, which has all episodes in Plex, although the set folder in Sonarr is incorrect, so it may be reading from Sonarr and not listening to Plex, which would be a separate issue.
There are many other anime with the same issue, where they're in Sonarr, Plex or both and aren't recognised, more examples being Clannad (in Plex), Cowboy Bebop (in Plex), Death Note (in Plex) etc.
Anime movies appear to not have this issue and are recognised correctly, with their titles also linking to The Movie DB. (A lot of Anime link to http://www.imdb.com/title//)
Reproduction Steps:
To reproduce, add some anime to Plex or Sonarr, connect Ombi to them and search for an anime in Ombi and it will not be recognised as already being owned.
I noticed that Ombi doesn't connect to AniDB, and I'm thinking that this could potentially solve the issue by having better Anime recognition (a lot of anime aren't recognised at all, such as 'Daily Lives of High School Boys') but I imagine this would be a lot of work to do.
Many months ago, I set up V2 of Ombi and it had the same issue, so I don't believe the issue is with my setup, but I may be incorrect and the problem could be caused due to user error (and I hope it is), but every normal TV show or movie I have is recognised by ombi without any problems.
