implement options '--no-progress' and '--no-special-chars' #29

Very useful if you want to use the output in shell scripts. I'm still unsure about the command name --no-special-chars, maybe you have a better name?

Right, I'll accept this as-is and fiddle with it after for some minor changes (its time for the escape codes block to go after the options processing now e.g.).
