This axiom isn't true, as miRNA can be expressed in bacteria that are not part of or located in any tissue.

One solution is to further divide miRNAs into those that express in some tissue and those that don't.

I would suggest this issue to be left until after the paper submission.

I think, rather, that any time it is important to talk about miRNA that is expressed in a particular tissue say heart muscle, create a defined class 'miRNA expressed in heart muscle' =def 'miRNA' and expressed in some heart muscle.

If you then query for miRNA expressed in some Tissue, you will get all of these defined classes as query results.
