Showing points tally/score in a points race #5

In a points race (e.g. track races like points, tempo, point-a-lap, madison) the final rankings are determined based on the number of points that the rider (or team) accumulates during the race. Ties are often broken by the order they cross the finish on the last lap. If the race is part of an omnium, the omnium points are then determined based on the final ranking.

As a rider in a points race, I would like to know how many points each rider scored during the race.

Example: In these results, rider 602 (me) scored either 2 or 3 points during the race... but since I didn't make it into the top 5 I got a DNP. The points column at the right is for omnium points and are based solely on the final rankings. I would like to see "points" renamed to "omnium points," and then another "points" column with the points won during the race.

Hi Gabriel - thanks for the suggestion.

The current implementation is deliberate to avoid any potential confusion between "race points" and "omnium points". I'm surprised it's taken so long for someone to make this request 😀.

In the background there is the capability to enter the points in a points race when they apply to directly to the omnium total, for example in the final points race in an International Omnium.

Modifying your suggestion a little - what if we label the new column you suggest as "Race points" in addition to relabelling to existing one to "Omnium points". We would show both columns when there is a difference between what is scored in the race and what contributes to the Omnium (the usual method at Hellyer).

One thing you'll have to discuss with the officials is to ask them to record the placings for everyone who scores race points rather than just the first 5 places.

I don't think implementing this will be too tricky.

Your suggestion SGTM.

I'll chat with the promotors/officials and see what they say.
