A good first step towards a more user-friendly kalamine:

kalamine layout.toml --watch
check the layout in the browser (including the emulation)
modify your TOML layout, save it, refresh the browser
Ctrl-C when you’re done, all platform-specific files are generated

An websocket/inotify-based magic to auto-refresh the layout in the browser would be nice to see.
