Dear I hope this message finds you well.
I'm writing to ask if Wikimedia would be interested in collaborating with Open Hardware Leaders, a mentorship program Julieta, Alex, Jose and I are organizing and its currently running its first cohort.
Open Hardware Leaders is a spin off the Mozilla Open Leaders program, similar in structure and philosophy. Mentees all around the world are guided by selected mentors through an open curriculum of 14 weeks. They learn tech and community best practices and connect to global communities on their specific projects.
There are two program-related events which we thought would be fruitful to run in Berlin:
As part of the program mentees open their projects for collaboration and attract contributors during a global Sprint (April 30th). We think it's useful for us organizers to meet in Berlin for the Sprint afternoon, host it live and engage with maker communities in the city before hand.
Once program ends (July, date TBD) we will run a mentors-only sprint (max 2 days), to collect learned lessons and improve after this first cohort, for cohorts to come.
We are currently thinking of venues for hosting these events. The idea is a central place where we are able to receive max 20 people on both events.
We currently have funds from Mozilla Foundation to cover some aspects of these events (mainly, paying for people's travel). We thought of Wikimedia DE as a good place for running the events, as we believe our philosophies are 100% aligned and some members already are involved in the program (Jo and Martin are currently mentors and Berlin-based) .
Thanks in advance and let us know if you have any questions, Andre

Dear I hope this message finds you well.
I'm writing to ask if Wikimedia would be interested in collaborating with Open Hardware Leaders, a mentorship program Julieta, Alex, Jose and I are organizing. This is a spin off the Mozilla Open Leaders with a similar structure of mentees and mentors (Jo and Martin, both based in Berlin are two of the mentors on our first cohort) and guided work for the course of 14 weeks. All about open hardware projects. Some are related to Academia, and some are not.
For the program we are organizing two events which we thought it would fruitful to be in Berlin:
On Week 12 we have a global sprint planned, where mentees will have prepared their projects in a way that will hopefully attract external supporters. We thought it could be useful for the organisers to be together in Berlin for the sprint and engage with maker communities in the city before hand.
So the idea for this one would be to have a central place where we would be able to receive people willing to collaborate on the projects on June 30th, which is a Thursday just before the holiday.
Right after the program, we would like to gather the mentors for one weekend, to do another sprint, this time to gather feedback about the program and make improvements for the next cohort.
(possible because Mozilla recently created a grant for ex-mozilla fellows to run events for projects they are involved in).
For this one we don't have a fixed date yet, but we would lilke to know if Wikimedia would interested in hosting us as well. thanks in advance and best regards,Andre
