Translation work to switch the brick to English (multilingualism ?)

The project started in french but it looks like it's time to switch to English, perhaps preparing for multilingualism. This work is part of the establishment of a coalition on open models education around the Next Generation Internet programme and funding.

Even if open models are a global topic, it begins in french because it was designed for educational purposes in a French-speaking context for a general public, it was a way to avoid language barrier. As there is already a little interest abroad, as the coalition is being built with non-French-speaking players and as the switchover can be made without too much legacy, the intent is to switch as early as possible.

Which should help to reach more specialized people and a worldwide audience.

Proposed approach

I suggest splitting the translation process in two steps: basic switch to english, then see to consider multilingualism (maybe).

A first translation of the entire brick of knowledge's content from french to english, to enable coalition members to work together and attract more actors in various openness fields.

A simple step with important impact to build the brick.

Then consider multilingualism separately, as managing multiple translation (on evolving content) is a complex task and require considerable technical and management efforts. The intent would be to go multilingual, learning is easier or only possible in mother tongue, but tooling and approach needs to be discussed.

Multilingualism could be mixed between human and automatic translation at various degree. Some insight, I wrote a small software Markdown translator, there are tools like Weblate to manage translations.

Switching to English seems as important as it is accessible, working on multilingualism is perhaps a little premature and our efforts may be more beneficial elsewhere to build the brick and the ecosystem.

Fixed with https://github.com/Open-Models/Brique/issues/413. No multilingualism for now.
