Classic menus in File Explorer #1074

A useful feature and option would be to add back the classic menus from Windows 7 into the File Explorer included with Windows 8.1, 10 and 11. I dislike the ribbon that some modern applications use. Open Shell already changes File Explorer so I thought that this may be possible.

Edit: This is obviously not relevant when OpenShell is installed on Windows 7.

A good idea, but the Start Menu Software doesn't actually change the ribbon, it just provides an additional option to add to it.

It would unfortunately be a big job to implement something like this here, but the following link (is just 1 example) that does provide a way for an individual to revert the ribbon to an earlier version of the Windows OS.

Good Luck! 👍

I was just thinking, OpenShell adds a toolbar (or whatever) to the ribbon. Would it be possible to add the classic menus from Windows 7 as a separate option? Possibly even a separate (second) optional toolbar? That is potentially a little clunky depending on the design and behavior but at least usable. I have seen tools that integrate the classic menus straight into the ribbon on the newer versions of Microsoft Office for example. Basically, the tool creates a new ribbon with the old style menus in it.
