Describe the bug

Screenshot 2024-05-31 085038

I tried uninstalling through windows 11 and this white bar in windows explorer persisted. I tried deleting files from program files/app data/everywhere I could and that didn't help. I tried running the utility I found posted in these issue threads and selecting Remove Open-Shell. That did not help. How do I fix this?

Area of issue

Windows Explorer

To reproduce

  1. Install Open-shell, with the classic-explorer I think
  2. Try to uninstall

Expected behavior

No response

Open-Shell version

4.4.191

Windows version

Windows 11 23H2

Additional context

No response

Please, have a look at this https://github.com/Open-Shell/Open-Shell-Menu/issues/326#issuecomment-813086363.

I checked registry edit and I do have that locked. Screenshot 2024-05-31 102217

Also, a comment later in that thread mentioned they use wallpaper engine and they get the toolbar again everytime the wallpaper changes. I haven't verified that but it is worth mentioning I also use wallpaper engine.

Can you assist me anymore with this? I'm still having this issue.

I'm sorry, I have no clue why Explorer in Win11 is acting like that. Open-Shell does nothing with menu bar, so it just has to be some weird interaction between OS and 3rd party addon.

You can find many reports stating that menu bar randomly appears in Win11. So I guess you just have to search and try ...

Maybe try this guide: https://www.elevenforum.com/t/add-or-remove-menu-bar-in-file-explorer-in-windows-11.7643/
