Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe. I have Windows 11 in a VM, and still hate the "modern" Start Menu. Sad that it's not compatible yet.

Describe the solution you'd like

The ability to use classic Start Menu on Windows 11
The ability to move the task bar to other sides (personally prefer the left or the right).

Describe alternatives you've considered No alternatives I could think of other than Start11, but I prefer OpenShell because it's open source.

You can use the free ExplorerPatcher or the affordable commercial app StartAllBack to get what you are asking. Open Shell works with the classic Taskbar brought back by ExplorerPatcher or StartAllBack. See here on how to set it up properly: http://www.classicshell.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=8580

You can move the classic taskbar too after unlocking it.

There is a considerable delay before Windows 11 logs on when this above Registry value is set to 1.

How bad is the delay?

Oh...I think I misunderstood the comment. I assumed that the registry needed to be added/changed for it to work.

Yes. I enabled the old taskbar by using Winaero Tweaker Winaero Tweaker If you install it, it has a Windows 11 section and one of the options is 'Classic Taskbar' and in there is a checkbox to 'Enable Classic Taskbar'.

@Balmforthk810 What classic theme is that. It is a huge improvement over the despicable "no-theme" that 11, 10 & 8 have.

Can you use small taskbar in Windows 11? If yes, it will be closer to older Windows.

Hi,

It's not a theme as such. To get this look, I enabled the old taskbar using Winaero Tweaker, installed Classic Shell and used the Classic Shell settings from my main PC, and changed the background to be a picture I have, which I've attached.

I also used Winaero Tweaker to change all the fonts back to Tahoma

I agree it's a huge improvement on standard Windows 7, 8 and 11 :-) .

Hi,

When enabling Classic toolbar in Winaero Tweaker, this is what I got. It would be nice to have a smaller taskbar but it's not far off :-)
