Hi @uvwxy

It looks like it's been awhile since this project has been updated. I started looking at building one of these when I noticed some parts have gone obsolete.

Would it be helpful if I fork this project and update the board to replace obsolete parts and potentially solve some of the other issues/

Let me know

If it is of interest here is what I've been doing: https://github.com/a-allard/open-smartwatch-gps

Basically, did you ever get it working? The last update for me was, that the antenna was so bad (placed, configured, everything) that we basically never received the satellites while wearing on the arm...

Gotcha. I never actually finished the layout I started as I wanted to know what might need to be changed. And verify there was some interest in having a new rev of this done.

I'll a good look at the current layout in a bit (probably this weekend) and see what if anything might help the GPS. Just to be sure we're on the same page, you are talking about the GPS antenna... Correct?

Is there anything else you want to change on this while I'm digging though this project?

Yes.

Well, currently a new hardware release is the most wanted request from the community - so if you feel you are up to it, go ahead :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Alrighty. I ordered boards yesterday.

I'll let you know how they work after I get them up and running. Probably will be 2-3 weeks, and some mods to the os.

The complete BOM and such is up on the fork of this repo. I'll update the gerbers later today.

For anyone following this issue a quick update:

I did spin a board and get it back. I had an issue with the ESP32 footprint. Unfortunately the issue shorted VDD to GND. So I was not able to test anything. I have a repin going but due to the amount of time it takes to get bards from China and the Chinese New Year is coming up shortly I don't think I'll get boards back for this respin until March or April.
