BitTorrent should not be required for a dataset of this size. Please host the data normally; I cannot get ahold of the data for business purposes if the only means of obtaining it is through a torrent. #36

Can you tell us more? Why can't you get hold of the data "for business purposes" if it is obtained through bittorrent?

The subject was also discussed at https://github.com/OpenAddressesUK/forum/issues/15 .

Thanks!

I would agree that in order to encourage uptake of the data, it should be made as accessible as possible. Why not set up a HTTP mirror list and allow companies and individuals to mirror the data on web servers? This is already a common model for the hosting of large operating system images and I'm sure their will be loads of people willing to host it.

HTTP is now supported on the site. See: https://alpha.openaddressesuk.org/data

And there is a feature for HTTP mirroring open on the roadmap: https://github.com/OpenAddressesUK/roadmap/issues/100

Closing this one down :)
