I'm assuming you are using the bundled binary (which includes both the client and server)?
If that's the case, the Default server is the connection that is intended to be used with the bundled server. Using that connection is what ensures the bundled server is properly launched and the right ports are used to connect to it.
I have no idea why authentication was failing for you. The easiest thing I would try is to re-comment the creds you set and re-try connecting with the Default connection. Make sure you fully re-start the app after making any modifications to ob.cfg.
If you still get the Authentication error, then we'll need to do some slightly painful MacGyvering to get things back in order. Try this:
localStorage
and hit Enter. You should see something like this:__serverConfig-
... item that has a name of default
.username
and password
settings (you probably need to scroll horizontally. For example, for me they are at the very end:USERNAME = 25VnIJjjcxJCG9b5IhBa
PASSWORD = E2EgwKGzv2odk7h2Cx3Q
(Make sure you removed the leading hash (#
) from each of those lines.)
OK I just tried to reinstall Openbazaar once again before I follow your steps and now a strange JavaScript error occures:
I really dont know what causes all this troubles :(. P.S.: I use the Full Release (OpenBazaar-1.1.9_Setup_x64.exe) from https://openbazaar.org/download.html
Did you do any type of uninstall before re-installing?
@hoffmabc Looks like some type of install error. Is it possible some type of uninstall needs to happen to clean things up before re-installing? Any other ideas what the problem could be?
Can you try running as administrator @Fr0stst0rm

I changed usr and pwd in ob.cfg and created a new local server, because I had the Connection failed to default— too many failed authentication attempts error. But I can't get the server to run.
