I would love to start renting a lot of stuff I don't use often (tools, Sport goods: surfboard, MTB, skies)

Thus, I would recommend to add a calendar, so one could start renting stuff on openbazaar.

One idea to properly incorporate renting, would be to sell the thing you rent, with a buy offer (buyback). So the person seeking the rent has the assurance that, they will get ride of the good after using it, for a certain rent fee. Even better you can have multiple buyback options, doesn't not need to be the original owner, making it a market. For the time being, one needs to be able to afford the stuff one rents, but in future decentralized insurance markets, could cover the capital needed for a rent.

Even cars or real estate could be rented ;)

That is certainly something that would be interesting to explore in the future, but we don't have any plans to add rentals in the near to mid-term future.
