Ruler tool not working #1078

When using the "Ruler" tool the application stops working. This occurs in version 1.7.1

You need to give a little bit more information. As you might imagine, the ruler tool works for other people. So please explain more:

What operating system are you using?
Where did you download your version of OpenBoard?
What devices are you using? Monitors, graphic tablet?
What did you do? Describe it step by step, so that somebody else can reproduce it.
What happens? Describe it exactly!
What means "stops working"? Tell us exactly what you experience! Is OpenBoard crashing or what else is happening?
If it is helpful, provide a screenshot.

The better you describe the problem, the greater the chance that someone will be able to help you.
