as described here: https://mailman.videolan.org/pipermail/x264-devel/2016-June/011678.html Also: T-REC-H.264-201704-I!!PDF-E.pdf states on page 399 that HLG is reserved for the 18th element.

checked with media info and the like.

I guess, but surely you want to submit this to mainline x264?

Probably yes. but needed it in regards to xavc encodings and found your patched version. So thought you might need that aswell and opened a pull request.

Ok, but I intend to merge this into mainline x264 when the reverse engineering is complete.

Alright. Just got myself familiar with how to contribute to x264. so I'll be closing this for now. Thanks for getting back.
