C2SIM Problem Report / Change Request Submitter Name (s): Ole-Martin Mevassvik Contact email address: Ole-Martin.Mevassvik@ffi.no Submitter Organization(s): FFI Date of Submission: 14 May 2021 Type (Problem Report or Change Request): Change Request Product: C2SIM Standard Problem/Change Description: The NMSG is in the process of finalizing the edition E of the NATO Modelling and Simulation Standards Profile (AMSP-01). I am responsible for updating the C2-sim family of standards. We had some discussion regarding the C2SIM standard compared to C-BML and especially MSDL at the last NMSG business meeting. There were some concerns about the status of MSDL as it is widely used and used by the NATO NETN FOM (AMSP-04). For C-BML it is easy – C2SIM supersedes C-BML. However, the C2SIM-Initialize cannot currently, to my knowledge, fully replace MSDL. Maybe it is better to say that it is planned to supersede MSDL (when the necessary extensions have been developed), or does SISO have an official statement on this?

Is everything in MSDL actually used by other systems? The goal here is to identify the portions of MSDL that are actually required in C2SIM and to build those into the core or an extension, as appropriate. There is a preliminary discussion of this in Simulation Innovation Workshop (SIW) paper 2022-SIW-026 from Feb 2022. 2022-SIW-26.pdf

Start by checking C2SIM against the relevant NETN FOM modules, such as NETN-ORG.

CWIX-2023 planning has brought this issue to the forefront. We need to re-examine the NETN-ORG extensions to MSDL (e.g., Holdings) and determine how to incorporate the necessary concepts into C2SIM.
