Feedback from RTI is that there is a new contact at HEC and HEC recently moved HEC-RAS to 64-bit so they had to deal with this. TSTool can be updated to 64-bit in OpenCDSS Phase 2 and we'll deal with HEC-DSS one way or the other.
I have found a contact at the Army Corps to help with this migration. More details to follow.
The 64-bit formal release of TSTool is pending. I am just confirming that the HEC-DSS features will be disabled until funding is secured to update. Anyone needing these features will need to use version 13.04.00 or older.
I updated HEC-DSS features to mostly work. I'm waiting on issues to be resolved in library repositories so keep this issue open.,
The HEC-DSS features currently rely on 32-bit native Windows libraries to interface with HEC-DSS binary files. Use of 32-bit Java Runtime Environment (JRE) has allowed the HEC-DSS code to be integrated with TSTool (similar to DSS-View tool provided by Army Corps). However, TSTool now needs to be updated to 64-bit JRE to be more compatible with 64-bit operating systems, allow larger memory allocation (32-bit has effective limit of 1.4 GB for TSTool), and many development tools such as Eclipse are no longer being supported for 32-bit operating systems.
I plan to update TSTool to 64-bit tools JRE and Eclipse soon, similar to recent upgrade for StateDMI. I will try to do it and run tests on HEC-DSS code. If that code does not work, I'll comment out or remove.
I have reached out to contacts at RTI to see if they have thoughts on funding the update. Worst case, people that need HEC-DSS features can continue to use an old version of TSTool while this is resolved.
