I had trouble using a recent HydroBase snapshot because my installed SQL Server Express was too old. I updated to version 2019. The HydroBase installation documentation is mostly correct. However, the troubleshooting section of the documentation needs to be clarified. The main change is that the properties on the .mdf and .ldf files need to specify NT Service, as shown in the third dialog below. The name had to be typed in completely. Typing in part and then doing Check Names did not fill out.
I don't know if Doug Stenzel or Brian maintains the document. Maybe it makes sense to keep different versions of the documentation in different folders corresponding to different versions of SQL Server and then the reader can pick the version that they have. At a minimum indicate at the top of the document which version of SQL Server was used and maybe a date that the documentation was prepared to alert the reader that some things may be different.
