  1. Fixing sonarqube code smells
  2. Changing to black as the formatter
  3. Reformatting using black
  4. Disabling flake8 where it disagrees with black

LGTM. I was expecting to find Black settings in pyproject.toml but either way seems acceptable.

Mildly related question here: should we not delete head branches automatically after merge?
