As I wrote over in #185, let us change the merge target to a staging branch before taking this all into master.

@pavel-kirienko switched this to merge onto develop, which I just created (off of master). Please merge if this looks good.

Merging despite the failing CI because it is caused by a minor configuration problem that is already remedied.
