Is "Open Design" design that is open and if so, what is design and what means open in the context of design? #8

Maybe it would be worth to look at definitions for the term "Design" and then link it to the understanding/interpretation of open in that context.

What kind of strategies or tactics would openness of design imply for example in contexts of game design, art, or furniture design? What constitutes a context is both about the culture of making, as well as that of distribution and consumption.

It is a good idea, the only precaution is that we should take the definition of design itself easily, otherwise we should first start a big project for defining design, then also for defining definition. It is something that we are actually doing already in this project, but the only important thing is to be aware not to dig too deep ;)

A good discussion about what design is can be read here on the PHD Design list

However, for our definition, I would stick with design as considered: a) as a verb (a process) b) design as a documentation (a blueprint) c) design as an outcome (the "compiled" blueprint)
