Alternative name for tabular pages? #101

ODC has raised concern with the name of tabular pages being confusing and not so clear for users...

This name appears in following places:

Would you change the name? Would you have any suggestions?

@prustar @Huyeng @gimmemochi @thetaung2 @ChandaraKhun can you please provide some input on this? I have discussed with Huyeng about whether to hide the text tabular pages from the breadcrumbs or renaming them as an alternative.

Renaming would be better so the navigation stays consistant and users might be able to discover more contents on the site by clicking on that element on the breadcrumb.

We agree that Tabular pages is confusion and finding a new, more suitable name, would solve the problem.

@acorbi @Huyeng @prustar @DBishton @gimmemochi Thank Alex and Huy Eng for brining the issue to discuss. This so-called Tabular Pages also does appear on ODC site. If I may, I wan to recall a little about why ODC decided to temporarily hid "Data" page on our website. At the time, we did not know what exactly this page was about. And, to us, it seems that the sub-category of this Data page does not look very appealing for the labelling main page "Data" to our users. I think this shall be subject of the discussion on whether ODC agrees to regroup "law, library & data" under this "Tabular Pages" or "Data" page. To me, at the moment, I may prefer to underline each of those sub-pages to the menu of the website. screenshot_1

Currently the tabular page looks like this: image

Essentially this is a simplistic version of my initial spec for a landing page for 'data' that would present the content of our database in the types of records we host - data, geospatial data, laws, library (resources and publications).

What we are discussing is how to implement this to make sense for the user and I still think that the original spec I proposed found here: https://www.draw.io/#G0B8qdxKTAJ1KlRC1fNlA3bGtDa00

Two examples are given here and they are a good way to navigate people to what is essentially a search function of our database through different (tabular) pages. So perhaps we should call it the OD Database or something similar because these pages are displaying the content of our CKAN datahub.

Thanks @prustar for your feedback. If we choose OD Database, and considering that there will be 1 "tabular page" for each dataset type on a site, breadcrumbs would look like:

How would that sound in the local languages? @Huyeng @thetaung2 @ChandaraKhun

/ OD Database / Laws, policies and agreements / OD Database / Datasets / OD Database / Library records

? These sounds ok in local languages.

Just in reference to the term Library I think people don't relate to this and perhaps we should be calling these Publications or Resources?

I'm indifferent about Dataset or Data either would work.

I prefer "Publications" to "OD Publications or Resources". The library records are not content published by us but rather aggregated openly licensed publications. I would also suggest we remove OD from to reflect the following:
