How shoudl we do this. it means there are 2 actions per image - view and navigate to album.

We wan't to minimse use choice / confusion so need to figure out how to do it.

I propose the default action is view and a new button allows view album

Intent - action

matlun commented 8 years ago

To avoid 2 actions per image, I would suggest that the default behaviour be that images that have a navigation link do just that when selected, and that only end node images go to full screen when selected - and then back to the navigation view when selected again. Or was the request specifically that also images with a navigation link should be possible to view in full screen? I don't think that's necessary or even desirable. If you want such an image to be available for full screen view, you will have to make it avaiable again as an end node.

I did initially think of that as a good option but we moved on to viewing all photos full screen.

I think the idea is that you can see sets of 4 or 6 images and some let you drill down to more. That is probably simpler for users than saying some are effectively only thumbnail album covers. However having 2 actions per image is also complex.

What do others think?

It would be great to get user feedback on these sort of design decisions.

I stil think it's better to avoid 2 actions per image. However it would be good if there is an indication in the UI showing whether an image is linking to a sub page, or is an end link opening up a full screen view. Mats

We talked about this on a meeting with Linköping and while Margret had the same view as you, Mats, Christina and Anna had this idea of two options. It was particularly for making it easier to see the images due to vision problems. It would be great to discuss this more, but could you please do it in the Google group where everybody had access, so they too can take part?

@matlun @sancarder Thanks!

Ideally, from an open source project management perspective we would disucuss here directly in the issues. However we have people who need to be in the conversation who are not familiar with GH and prefer mailing lists.

Accordingly it's best we discuss on the list and use issue to distil the discussion and manage work outcomes. We can always link to the group messages web views.

Thanks

I'll post a copy of the conversation so far to the Googlegroup emal in a few minutes. To the issue and @sancarder : It's difficult for us all to envisage the consequences fully without mock-ups to test. But I think the argument about making images easier to see due to vision problems is weak, because adding small choices of two actions to the images who are linking to sub screens will complicate the interaction both cognitively and visually. If you want to make an image available for full viewing you will just have to make it available as an end node image in the sub screen for full view. That should be no problem, right?
