Suspend broken on Fusion since R9365 #112

Closed jimbo3 closed 12 years ago

jimbo3 commented 12 years ago

Since R9365 suspend/resume does not work on Fusion computers anymore. Seems to be a (linux) kernel/driver issue. See http://openelec.tv/forum/28-issue-reports/20916

When suspending, computer tries so suspend, but hangs with a black screen and does not switch-off. Only a hard reset or power supply switch off will reboot it. No info in logfiles.

So newer builds cannot be used when you rely on USB remote controls as we need suspend/resume to operate it with remote.

Asus E35M1, suspend did not work. System goes Black and instant resume without starting tvheadend again. OpenELEC_PVR-Fusion.x86_64-devel-20120404045934-r10416

I was a bit too early in stating that Suspend now works. After 2 or 3 days of usage, system regularly suspended, the system will not respond anymore on power up. I experienced this now already two times. I noticed also another problem. If the system is at least once powered down to suspend and powered up again, then the restart option in OpenElec doesn't work anymore. After the boot screen only a blinking cursor appears and I need to disconnect the mains before the system responds again. So I disabled the Suspend mode again...

Suspend / Resume seems to work but .... I found my Foxconn A-3500 resumed by it's own and hanging. So without using the box it started by itself. After a reboot the display overscan setting was completely wrong. I had a small screen which I could not adjust big enough by calibrating the overscan from the settings menu. I could solve this by deleting fglrx.conf and a reboot. Then display adjust was possible and my screen was full size again.

I noticed a new 'official' beta (2.0 beta1 - 1.95.1), don't know if this version is newer than the last daily build of april 2nd (10416)...

what we do with this issue, afaik the original issue is fixed already and was a problem with kernel 3.2 together with fglrx driver before 12.03, the problems some users still have seems to be different problems. can we close this (and if its needed open new issues for the various problems they still exist)?

Lu-Fi commented 12 years ago

For me this issue is fixed. My problem comes from my Skystar USB 2 Sat receiver. If i remove the modprobe from autostart.sh standby is working. If the driver is loaded one time suspend is broken.

taleteller commented 12 years ago

So all thats left are users of a Foxconn A-3500 barebone who can reproduce this issue with Ubuntu as well?

sraue commented 12 years ago

so because @jimbo3 as the OP wrote its solved for him i will close this issue for now, if there are still problems open a new report please :-) thanks @all.
