7 years ago Adding to this - I formatted and installed the latest LibreElec which has Kodi 17.
The issue does not present itself there.
So either it's a full install vs upgrade thing or this is definitely an OpenElec issue.
Updated to 8.0.2 from 7.0.1. Before upgrade, things were fine. Now, only every second button pressed is registered in the UI. Doesn't matter what buttons are pressed, one is ignored and one registers.
