more like questions than issues:

is it really "y" and not just y: ?
what does boxsize mean? it seems to get huge just with boxsize 3. is there any way to give it a width?

You can use y and dont have to write "y" the boxsize attribute was copied from the python library an I think it is the size of the qr code box sizes
