We should probably add SSL support to protect against packet-sniffing shenanigans.

@philbrondyke related to this, do you guys have a URL in mind for this transcriber tool to live? And do you have an SSL certificate for it?

Will check on this, but the likely home is our Open Election Data Initiative, hypothetically http://openelectiondata.net/en/tools/transcriber.

To my knowledge we don't have certificates yet but we should get them.

@philbrondyke and @naskida for deployment and code separation purposes, it would be easiest to have the site hosted on a subdomain like https://transcriber.openelectiondata.net.

Would that be possible? You would need what they call a 'wildcard SSL' certificate that works for an entire domain, including subdomains.
