Black screen on PSX emulation #2

Closed gigno9 closed 10 years ago

Hi folks, The issue i'm representing regards the PSX emulation. I've added the PSX BIOS files into OpenEmu, and some games too (cue + bin). Double click on the game that i want to start and the emulation goes, but it immediately freezes into a black screen and nothing happens. Hoping you can help me...

Can you watch Console.app during the game launch?

clobber commented 10 years ago

@gigno9 you've likely run into wrong BIOS dumps. please see this comment here: https://github.com/OpenEmu/OpenEmu/issues/1227#issuecomment-37072393

Maybe it's a wrong BIOS dumps... I've added scph5500 and scph5502, but I didn't know where to find scph5501. But I've noticed that the md5 for scph5501 was the same for scph7003, so I renamed it into "scph550.bin1" and I've added it to OpenEmu... Later I try to watch the console while I launch the game and I will let you know.

I must check if md5 checksum are the same obviously

PGGB commented 10 years ago

A lot of the BIOS files you find online are labeled incorrectly. Just check the hash of all of them and correct the file name.

Ok i've checked the md5 hashes of all my dumps and i found some errors, but i've solved them. For example: scph5502 has the same md5 hash of scph5552. So i renamed scph5552 in "scph5502.bin" and i placed it in the BIOS folder. I did the same with scph7003, that i renamed in "scph5501.bin". Everything ok for scph5500... Now i have all dumps with the correct hash in BIOS folder, but i've another issue: after i launch the game there is no black screen, but this popup came out.

I really have no idea about it! Watch the screenshot and let me know what you think

I solved it too. I renamed the cue and bin files and I added to OpenEmu, but the cue file referenced to the bin with the old name...so renamed them and everything went good.

There's a guide for cuesheets. https://github.com/OpenEmu/OpenEmu/wiki/User-guide%3A-Cue-sheets-%E2%80%94%C2%A0loading-CD-based-games
