As the OEP also becomes the NFDI4Energy platform (for now only as a prototype - the OEP will stay the OEP), we want to integrate the TIB terminology service. We see potential in the integration of TIB services into our platform and or in the harmonisation/enhancement of our current features. The TIB is focussing more on the development of ontology viewers and provides tools for the development of ontologies. It can also help to find similarities to other ontologies and more. By integrating the TIB community, we can benefit from the developments and do not have to reinvent the wheel, but can contribute to the developments.
Ideas of solution
Long term goal:
At the moment, this is still open for discussion. I suggest that we pool our efforts, also in view of our limited resources to develop these functions. The main question is how we want to approach this in detail, how much of our functions can be extended / replaced by the TIB. In the long term, it will help us to offer standardised / known processes and establish ourselves in the ontology community.
Goal for this issue : @han-f @stap-m @adelmemariani @wingechr @l-emele
In order to fulfil the requirements of the NFDI project, I was asked to set up a link on the OEP that connects the OEP and the TIB. The TIB already includes the OEO and provides its tools for it. If nobody objects, I will set up a external link to the TIB on the OEP website under the "Ontology" tab.
This would be the link -> https://terminology.tib.eu/ts/collections
