I got this image from this document: Wind Turbine Drivetrain Modeling in Simscape/SimDriveline and Interfacing with FAST in Simulink—User’s Guide

Why are the rotor power and torque used as inputs instead of Gen power and torque?

Dear @vicemora,

As I've mentioned in related posts here on OpenFAST GitHub and our forum, I'm only loosely familiar with the publication you refer to (from: https://www.nrel.gov/docs/fy14osti/59195.pdf). That said, my understanding is that the torque and power transferred from Simulink to FAST in this example is the reaction torque and power applied to the shaft of the FAST model based on the more detailed drivetrain model implemented in SimDriveline. I would suggest trying to track down the lead author of the paper for detailed questions.
