Dear @Wangzhenyu12,
That statement from the NREL 5-MW baseline specifications report is misleading, and was written in the context of how FAST functioned at the time. The NREL 5-MW baseline blade is better described on our forum in the following topics: https://forums.nrel.gov/t/nrel-5mw-rotor-geometry/330 https://forums.nrel.gov/t/stress-analysis-of-blades-and-a-tower/489 https://forums.nrel.gov/t/geometric-properties-of-the-nrel-5-mw-baseline-blade/1481
Best regards,
Dear jjonkman: I want to model the 5MW wind turbine blade in SolidWorks. What I'm confused about is which point of each airfoil can be connected in a straight line. In 《Definition of a 5-MW Reference Wind Turbine for Offshore System Development》, it said 'The FAST code assumes that the blade-pitch axis passes through each airfoil section at 25% chord'. Does it mean that for every airfoil, the point (0.25*chord length,0) is connected in a straight line?
I also noticed you gave the values of PitchAxis and AeroRef in NREL Forum, why is the PitchAxis not equal to 0.25? And for Cylinder airfoil, which point is used to connect in a straight line?
Though I find some related issues, I still do not understand. Please help me, thanks!
